MUSEOPEN

is a digital cultural heritage platform that connects communities, museums, and AI to preserve, revitalize, and communicate local heritage through interactive technologies. This project proposes the development of a prototype system called “Narrative Twin”, an AI-powered storytelling framework designed to preserve not only the physical structures of heritage sites, but also the intangible aspects—stories, memories, rituals, and symbolic meanings.

Background and Rationale

The initiative will engage students, teachers, and local elders in three pilot sites across Southeast Asia, using 3D models, oral history, and virtual museum tools. Expected outcomes include interactive educational content, teacher toolkits, and a replicable model. While numerous digital preservation initiatives exist, few focus on the emotional, narrative, and mnemonic dimensions of community heritage. Cultural heritage in Southeast Asia is deeply enriched by local stories and oral traditions, many of which are rapidly disappearing. MuseOpen aims to bridge digital innovation with local wisdom, particularly in the fields of lifelong learning, culture, and innovation.
